Log Cabin Raised timber base kit
This base kit is made up of the following items:
Recycled plastic posts (which will not rot and also form a damp proof
course) are concreted into the ground with postmix readymixed concrete
(also supplied), this means that you do not have to level the ground as
you would with a concrete base because you simply use longer posts
where the ground level drops away.
47x150mm tanolised timbers are bolted to the posts, just above ground
level, giving under floor ventilation) to form an outer ring beam for
the main cabin walls to bear on.
Further 47 x150mm timbers are then supported from the outer ring beam
using joist hangers (also supplied in the kit) at 600mm spacings.
Depending on the span of the inner joists, they may also require
further support from more plastic posts at mid span, these would also
be supplied in the kit if deemed neccessary.
This forms a very sturdy base onto which the cabins can be built
directly, giving major time advantages over the more traditional
concrete bases.
